The origins of the University Sports Center date back to the late 1960s and early 1970s, when the Nicolaus Copernicus University Physical Education and Sports Studio was established at 35 Yuri Gagarin Street. In 2013, the name was changed to the one we know today, and the complex itself remains in service to this day.
