Katarzyna Zillmann - a student at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, won the gold medal in the women's quadruple sculls at the European Championships organized in Glasgow.
The 2018 European Rowing Championships were held at the Strathclyde Country Park regatta course, just outside Glasgow. Katarzyna Zillmann started with Maria Sprigwald, Marta Wieliczko and Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska. The Polish crew earned the top podium spot after completing the 2 km race in 6:20.92, almost 3 seconds ahead of second-placed Ukraine and more than 4 seconds ahead of the third-placed Netherlands.
This is the first gold medal for the crew, and it is only their second season together. The same crew earned silver at the World Championships in Sarasota a year ago, and they were placed fourth during the European Championships in 2017.
Katarzyna Zillmann is studying Environmental Protection at the Nicolaus Copernicus University; she starts in the colours of the NCU Sports Association.
